Conference Goals and Objectives

The conference aims to:
Mobilize and inspire partnerships to achieve the systems and policy changes needed to enhance environmental education in Washington State through the E3 Washington initiative;

  • Share innovative approaches to effect positive, sustainable change;
  • Demonstrate and celebrate the power and potential of new programs and school-community partnerships;

  • Actively foster the authentic partnerships of educators and business leaders;
  • Provide a fun and dynamic forum to network, share information and build skills;

  • Enhance student learning;

  • Facilitate participants’ commitment to specific actions they can take to support social and educational change; and

  • Honor and support the broader goal of effecting positive, sustainable change for the betterment of society and the natural world.

Through active involvement in the conference, participants will:

  • Develop a broad and current understanding of environmental education;
  • Learn new skills;
  • Create more direct and deliberate links between their work and continuously changing social and natural environments;
  • Achieve their most important objective in coming to the conference;

  • Commit to concrete and specific actions they will take upon returning home;

  • Establish a peer group for continued learning and information sharing;

  • Establish connections with new audiences;

  • Commit to one specific environmental goal to achieve upon returning home: and

  • Leave the conference energized and motivated to share the information they learned with their community and to accomplish tangible goals.
