EEAW Prepares for 2006-2007 EE Awards

The Environmental Education Association of Washington (EEAW) is seeking nominations for four award categories in environmental education. Individuals (1 formal and 1 nonformal educator), organizations, and programs are eligible for awards. You do not need to be a member of EEAW to be recognized. Please note:

a) Many organizations nominate themselves, please consider this option;

b) Award winners may be invited to present at the annual conference.

Nominees your application questionnaires must be postmarked or faxed
by August 31, 2007

CATEGORIES:

  • Outstanding Formal Environmental Educator – this award recognizes a formal (PreK-12) environmental educator in Washington State.
  • Outstanding Non-formal Environmental Educator – this award recognizes a non-formal environmental educator in Washington State.
  • Community Catalyst – this award recognizes projects or programs from agencies, schools, or organizations with an educational mission that provides community-based environmental education projects or programs.
  • Organizational Excellence – the award recognizes agencies, businesses, individuals and/or organizations that best provide for environmental education.

NOMINATION PROCESS:

  1. Please submit the following information about the nominee:
    • Name
    • Award category
    • Affiliation
    • Address, city, state zip
    • Email address
  2. Answer the following:
    • How do the nominee's accomplishment(s) or program(s) best reflect the designated award category? Please include effectiveness, community involvement, and the audience served.

Nominees will be asked to answer the following questions. If you wish to self nominate, please provide the above information and answer the following:

  1. Briefly describe your background.
  2. Describe how your accomplishments best reflect the designated category including:
    • Impact – what changes has been inspired in an audience or what changes have been made in the environment?
    • Could this program be replicated?
  3. Importance – what environmental education needs does the work fulfill?

TIMELINE:

    • Nominations postmarked no later than
      June 15, 2007
    • Applications from nominees postmarked no later than
      August 31, 2007
    • Recipients notified by
      October 1, 2007
    • Recipients honored at the EEAW Conference, November, 2007
